Buttermilk Waffles & Buttermilk Syrup
This month is a 2 for one recipe…buttermilk waffles & buttermilk syrup! Perfect for brunch or any beautiful summer morning breakfast! I swear it tastes even better when you eat them outside 😉

Buttermilk Waffles
Ingredients

2 cups flour

2 Tbsp sugar
-
1 Tbsp baking powder
-
1/2 tsp baking soda
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
2 cups buttermilk
-
2 eggs
-
1/2 cup melted butter
-
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

Preheat waffle iron.

In a large bowl, whisk together:

flour
-
sugar
-
baking powder
-
baking soda
-
salt
-

In another bowl whisk:
-
buttermilk
-
eggs
-
melted butter
-
vanilla
-

Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. A few lumps are fine.

Let batter rest 5 minutes.

Cook according to waffle iron directions until golden and crisp.

Tips

For extra crispy waffles: let them cool briefly on a wire rack instead of stacking.

These freeze really well.

Creamy Buttermilk Syrup
Ingredients

1 cup sugar
-
1/2 cup butter
-
1/2 cup buttermilk
-
1 tsp vanilla
-
1/2 tsp baking soda

Instructions

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine:
-
sugar
-
butter
-
buttermilk
-
-
Bring to a gentle boil for about 2–3 minutes, stirring often.

Remove from heat.
-
Stir in:
-
vanilla
-
baking soda
-
It will foam up and get light and creamy
Serve warm over waffles.
