Orange Biscuits

This is the best breakfast recipe for New Year’s! We love using oranges this time of year, since they’re in season! Put this on your list of holiday recipes to try!

Ingredients

For the Biscuits

4 cups all-purpose flour
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 dash salt
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup butter
1.5 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons orange zest

For the Frosting

1 cube butter
1 bag powdered sugar
1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (add more if you want thinner consistency)
2 tablespoons orange zest to taste

Directions

For the Biscuits

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Step 2
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in the buttermilk. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface, roll out & cutout biscuits. Place on cookie sheet or in cast iron skillet.

Step 3
Bake 13-15 minutes in the preheated oven, until tops look golden brown.

Step 4
Top biscuits with frosting & enjoy!

For the Frosting

Step 1
Mix all of the ingredients for frosting and top the biscuits with it.
